Custom Program

If you have an innovative idea for energy saving project and the measures are not included in our Equipment Rebate Program, your project may qualify under our Custom Program. Incentives under this option may include, but are not limited to:
- Chiller and/or Refrigeration System Upgrades
- Compressed Air System Improvements
- Industrial Process Improvements
- HVAC systems not eligible for Standard Incentives
- VFDs in building applications not eligible for Standard Incentives
- Lighting Upgrades
A distinguishing feature of the Custom Program is the primary focus on projects rather than on measures. Instead of having pre-established “per-unit” savings for measures, savings are individually calculated for each energy-efficiency measure (EEM) and then calculated to obtain the total savings for the project. Adjustments are made for interactions among measures that would increase or decrease savings.
Custom incentives are provided for cost-effective, energy-efficient technologies not included in our Equipment Rebate Program. These include implementing energy-efficient electric and gas measures, as well as funding a portion of a comprehensive energy study for customer facilities. Annual incentive caps per project do apply. Incentive payments are limited to a simple payback period of one (1) year for commercial projects, and six (6) months for industrial projects.
Proposed custom incentive projects will be required to pass a cost-effectiveness test.
Note:
LED Guidelines for Custom Projects:
- LED Replacement Edison base "PAR, G" or MR-pin base lamps are eligible for custom incentives if:
- LED fixture replacements are eligible for custom incentives, if the fixtures are:
- LM 79 and LM 80 tested, UL (or equivalent) approved, has a three (3) year warranty, and is a complete fixture replacement.
- LED fluorescent replacement tubes with external drivers will be evaluated on an individual case by case basis.
Eligibility
Con Edison commercial or industrial customers in an existing building who pays the applicable gas or electric system benefits charge (SBC) are eligible to participate in the Custom Program. (The SBCs funds New York State environmental and other related public-policy programs.)

Application Process
- XACT - Application and Incentive Calculation Tool
The XACT tool assists customers and Market Partners in completing the program application and forms needed to participate in the program. Features and benefits include:
- Excel–based application and calculation tool.
- Drop down menu of each program measure and incentive calculation data (including baseline ranges for allowable installation costs).
- Ensures energy-savings and incentive calculations are accurate.
- Reduces pre-approval time by minimizing the need for multiple reviews of the project between the program and you.
If you are interested in using XACT or have questions, please contact us at conedci@lmbps.com.
Please refer to our Con Edison C&I Energy Efficiency Program Application and the Custom Program Form for specific program participation details, guidelines, and requirements.
